Abstract
Should culture be separated from politics? Could culture help to shape the cultural and political arenas in Hong Kong? Would West-Kowloon Cultural District enrich our cultural life? Moderated by Prof. Stephen Chu, this dialogue seeks to unlock the cultural politics in Hong Kong, and to examine how a cultural activist may help to facilitate the communication between public policy and creative industries.
Short Bio of Chow Pok-yin
Chow Pok-yin Adrian (周博賢), a non-practicing solicitor and a music producer specializing in melody and lyrics writing as well as music arrangement. He is the founder of an independent music label Ban Ban Music Ltd, and is notably recognised as producer and manager of pop artist Kay Tse. He formerly served as a senior executive on copyright and operation with international music publishing companies and local music groups.
He is known for writing songs about political issues and social phenomena. An active commentator of sports, performing arts and cultural affairs, he writes columns and hosts broadcasting programmes in various media. He was elected as the member of the Arts Development Council in 2016 and will serve until 2019.
This event is jointly organised by Global Creative Industries Programme and Hong Kong Studies Programmem. It will be conducted in Cantonese.
