Applications are invited for joint appointment as Lecturer in China Studies and Global Creative Industries in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures in the Faculty of Arts (Ref.: 500024), to commence on September 1, 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a two-year fixed-term basis, non-renewable.

Applicants must be specialists in an Arts/Humanities discipline related to both Global Creative Industries and China Studies and they should possess a Master's degree with at least 5 years of teaching experience or equivalent. They should demonstrate a strong interdisciplinary orientation and promise of excellence in both teaching and research (or industrial/artistic practice). The applicants will need to teach not more than 6 courses each academic year including the core courses and elective courses in the Global Creative Industries, specifically on interdisciplinary areas such as political communication, social media and new media as well as two Common Core courses offered by China Studies and courses on research skills and current issues in Greater China and/or be ready to develop new elective courses based on their areas of research expertise, including but not limited to Chinese regional and local cultures, Taiwan Studies, and Chinese communities outside of Greater China.

The appointee must exhibit promise of leadership and vision, possess an excellent research agenda, and be ready to assume administrative responsibilities and participate in knowledge exchange activities as appropriate.
In addition, the appointee will collaborate with other programmes in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures as well as in other Schools of the Faculty of Arts. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary.
