Global Creative Encounters

The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong SAR

The robust development of the global creative industries reflects the major cultural, economic and technological changes that human society is experiencing. Governmental and commercial organizations alike are emphasizing the value of creativity and the importance of building cultural capacity. Having the vision to meet new challenges and opportunities in our changing society, the School of Modern Languages and Cultures (SMLC) of The University of Hong Kong established the Global Creative Industries (GCI) Programme in 2012 to provide integrated education of the creative industries and foster interdisciplinary studies of creativity.

“Global Creative Encounters”, organized by the GCI Programme of the SMLC of The University of Hong Kong is a large-scale intercultural exchange event which commemorates the establishment of the programme. It provides an important platform for dialogues and exchanges among practitioners of the creative industries, scholars and postgraduate students.
